Good value given the cost of the hand unit alone in some stores.
Relatively easy to use once familiarity is achieved. There are choices of operation such as using the Roco handset, an iPad or Android tablet or a smart phone but the z21 updater will only work with an Android device for some reason (so the instructions say). I use the Roco hand held controller (which has quite a long umbilical cable) and a smart phone for true wireless operation.
The only issue for me is the output voltage from the power unit. It's 18v (or 17 volts at the track), which seems high for n gauge and makes the loco lights very bright. Having read various forum comments and not wishing to experience blown leds or fried decoders, I changed to a different supply with a lower output which seems more relevant (12 volts at the track, and no control issues). According to some who know more about this measuring with a multi meter is not reliable since the signal is not a sine wave but a pulsed waveform, but comparison of voltage readings, however inaccurate, is possible.
