J Pole Ant
3 of 3 found this helpful Rec'd the Antenna promptly but with minor bending due to PO handling. Straighten the bends out myself and had up less than an hour by myself. With all materials on hand I would say 1/2 hr would be probable if not mounting on a high tower. Super reception; I hear local repeaters out 20/25 miles with excellent strength. I can't give a TX report due to not being licensed until next month (first exam available). I have no doubt this ant would survive 100+ mph winds if installed properly and will be operating efficiently for many years to come. Good price and workmanship...can't go wrong with this product. 73's

waste of time & money
0 of 1 found this helpful The unit appearance and feel is one of excellent quality but that is where it ends. New out of the box the SWR readings worked as they should but the power readings read 150 with a 5 watt HT and also on my Yeasu 857D; Neither of which was even close. A novice that has never used one would be in trouble because there is no instruction booklet with it. Opening the unit up and the soldiering is cold soldier and a sloppy job at that. In defense of the unit I will say that the SWR readings were pretty close, if that is all you want but if you want an accurate power reading this is not for you. I don't expect it will last very long due to the internal workmanship, so if you have the time to redo their work it would probably be a fairly good instrument for the money.

Perfect antenna
I had Cliff set my J Pole to the center of the old Commercial band for me and figured it would have just a little bit higher SWR on Ham 2 Meter and 70 cm than it would normally be. Was I surprised! This antenna never got above 1.2:1 on either end of the Ham bands and the Swr meter NEVER MOVED in the Commercial band. (I did use a choke but doubt one is needed) There is another competitor selling for about $5 more + shipping that I bought a bit over a year ago that works just fine but it was bent pretty bad when I received it and had to spend a bit of time straightening it out. I bought this one to be able to take Camping in the mountains of Idaho, shipping box was tore up but the antenna was in perfect shape due to the way it was packed. I couldn't buy the materials, spend the time figuring the lengths, cutting, soldering and testing to come up with this antenna for the price Clif does it. Quality, Price, exactly as advertised, and FREE SHIPPING ... you can't beat it!!!
