Not OEM and the "fit" is wonkey
This light is a disappointment. It did not fit perfectly, and would not properly seat in the bodywork. I actually EASILY cracked a tiny corner off the light body trying to get it to fit, which I crazy glued back on. I got it seated (mostly) by torqueing the retaining screw, but it has a noticeably larger gap between the bodywork and lamp relative to the other side, and I'm worried about water intrusion. If I could do it again, I would get a real VW part, not this knockoff. So should you.

This thing is terrible
Honestly, what IS this thing? It comes with no instructions, wiring diagrams, or truly useful setup information. That alone doesn't stop me, I've installed it just fine and wired it into my fuse box. The problems only begin there, however. The camera's directional adjustment loose and impossible to lock in place. The app that connects to the camera is poorly translated, poorly executed in terms of features, and of limited utility. You can't set recording parameters, or even set the camera's internal clock, meaning all the videos I've taken have the wrong date and time. The camera does update the date/time automatically, to the WRONG date and time when I connect. No way to override. Xtrons markets these along with their head units, but the head unit provides no meaningful utility in conjunction with the camera. You can plug it in and view the feed via the RCA jack, but what does that do for you? The camera was also unable to connect to Xtrons own head unit using their aforementioned app, which is WIFI only. Connecting the camera via wifi to their head unit renders the head unit useless for all other applications that require data (or so I've read, because it will not connect - I had to use my phone). To make matters worse, the camera now inexplicably records only when the vehicle is NOT running, although no wiring was altered from the ignition-on fuse power tap. If you'd think some setting could be found to control behavior, you'd be wrong! In a nutshell, this camera is extremely poorly done in terms of documentation, user feedback (is it even on?), app functionality, and general configuration. Xtrons builds "plug and pray" products. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

1 of 1 found this helpful I'm an owner and frequent user of a SureFire G2X. I've burned through so many batteries that I started looking for a rechargeable alternative. This light is extremely well built and feels like a quality product through and through. Visibly brighter than the Surefire by about 1/3. I did not think I would use the red or green LED's very much, but as it turns out the red is quite useful when I get up in the night and don't want to lose my night vision. The ability to program (through a button click sequence) the lighting levels and their order was a welcome feature. I chose a high-then-low program, and cut out the medium. The LED leans bright white in color, and has good spill for peripheral vision. Overall very pleased with this light, and would recommend. I poured over the features of at least 50 flashlights from Surefire, Nitecore, Streamlight, Fenix, Maglite, and a few more before settling on this one. Favorite features: All metal, rechargeable with a USB wire only (no separate charger needed), red LED for night vision, programmable tail button, excellent clip, waterproof, competitive price, and that "sturdy pelican feel".
