The EV PL-80a dynamic stage microphone.
Not many reviews on this product, which is a shame because it is a very good mic. I am lucky enough to have lots of mics, so i feel qualified to be able to comment on its sound. In comparison to many of the work horse brands it performs well, it has a pronounced mid range which you may or may not like. Its nothing a good desk eq could not cope with, its detailed and has no real tonal vices. It does not have the same level of proximity boost, as its stable mate the n/d 767a nor the hyped top end. A very high signal to feedback ratio, you can get stage monitors ridiculously high with this mic. A guitarist i know likes this mic a lot, which is why i had to buy another one for myself. Other vocalists i have worked with have used this for the first time, and i have never had any complaints. Can be bought for stupid money second hand, even new its priced to compete with the usual suspects.

Pros and cons of the beyer DT250 headphones.
Second set of beyer headphones i have owned, i have tried the DT100 versions and not been impressed by the sound quality. On reading various reviews on the DT250 set i was keen to buy some. I had wanted the 250 ohm model, however i was sold the 80 ohm set. I would not call them loud headphones, i have a set of shure srh 440 which are a lot louder. I had bought them for monitoring vocals, they are deficient in the upper mid frequencys an important area for voice work. This did show up in a plot of their frequency response, the shure's are not as open as these and lack the fine detail. For listening to big bands and orchestras they let you hear a lot, problem is they make vocals sound thin and gutless. From this review it sounds like i hate them but i dont, they are good headphones and very comfortable to wear for extended periods. In that respect they are way ahead of the shure's, which dont fit small heads well and slide all over the place. For listening to general music i would use the beyer's, but for monitoring vocals i will stick with the shure's.

Audio Cable Tester - Test 3 & 5 Pin XLR - Speakon Phono Jack Cat5 Midi USB RJ45

    Audio cable tester.
Lots of testing sockets ended up getting this model, it does not have 3.5mm jack tester but not a problem. I just use a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter, bought this one because it has cat5 test socket on it. Its quicker than using a test meter which is a pain on a dark stage, looks tough enough not to be a problem in future.
