Amazing story of one boy's experience of Hiroshima
2 of 2 found this helpful This anime would be a compelling and moving story about a young boy growing up after America dropped the A-bomb on Hiroshima if it was fictional. The fact that this is autobiographical just adds pathos and in a weird way hope. If after living through and seeing the things Keiji Nakazawa did and still compose such a touching and harrowing story; yet be void of self-pity or resentment is the most amazing part of this tale to me. I would recommend this anime to anyone who enjoys anime or wants to know about the aftermath of one the most horrific single acts of mass killing in history. If this film was live action I don't believe it would ever have got passed the censors due to it's graphic display of the ways in which people died, or possibly worse lived during this period of Japanese history.
