its a 10 dollar measurement tool

The measurement is not consistant and has to be re-calibrated between measurements. its not very percise, but it was $10 so i wasn't expecting much better

ONLY EBC

Get the specific holding tool it at all possible if you're working on an old bike. The clamp style wont cut it with the amount of torque you gotta put on those old bolts and you're liable to break a tooth off the basket or damage the teeth on the hub.
