Por Vida--A GREAT tribute CD to Alejandro Escovedo!

This is a hard-to-find CD that was made in 2004 as a tribute to Alejandro Escovedo and to raise money for his medical expenses as he was seriously ill at the time. It has many different artists covering his songs. I just love the different ways the various artists interpreted Alejandro's songs. I am a Los Lonely Boys fan, and was first interested in this album because of the cover LLB did of AE's song "Castanets." LLB really gets into the song and it's hot. But, I've come to love many of the other artist's versions of AE's songs as well. Alejandro is a fabulous, talented, and gifted songwriter and artist. If you ever have the chance to see him live, do it! Currently he is touring with the very talented David Pulkingham, and Amy Cook--both fabulous artists also. PS: If you want to know the true meaning behind the song "Castanets" go to YouTube, and look for SimplyArchivalProd's postings, and look for "Castanets"--recorded live at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz, CA in March 2009. AE gives a great introduction to the song, and it gives a whole new meaning to "she looks better when she walks away!"
