Didn't work

Doc Holliday by Gary Roberts a super read
This is a book I've re read three times since aquiring it about three years ago-quite simply it is that well researched and well written!Every chapter is loaded with a wealth of detail and Robert's style articulates the life of a very complex man living in a vivid period and place.Somewhere between the numerous accounts of Doc the very dangrous dentist gunman and Val Kilmer's quirky witty interpretation lies the real Doc Holliday and Robert's work delineates Holliday remarkably well. This is a work you will be pulling off your shelf again and again to consult!Very highly recommended!

Wyatt Earp by Casey Teffertiller a super read!
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm always a sucker for historic material about the old west and I just didn't get to this biography for years as I've read a great deal about Tombstone, the Earp brothers and the events leading up to ,about and after the O.K.Corral fiasco but this is a clear, well thought out work and the writing style is clean and hard to put down. There is much that has been stated before as well as some new material that is compelling and thought provoking. After many works that read more like a Victorian dime novel or that couches the historic figures places and events of our frontier years in a sort of overblown mythos this is a refreshing read! This reader felt that that the author peeled away the nonsense and exposed Earp the real man.Its other major strength was a very clear articulation of the social, political and economic forces that was swiring around TOMBSTONE and the Arizona territory-a morality tale of nobility, evil and human frailty. It is still a very modern story, one that any present reader can identify with, and it leaves one with the definite sense that the more things change the more we keep making the same mistakes.PUT THIS ONE ON YOUR SHELF!
