Very poor quality brittle plastic. The first one I tried to use snapped and broke.

Original manufacturer replacement part
Its an original replacement so is perfect for the job. Its a pity Salomon designed these boots with very thin toe and heel pieces that wear out with very little use. Even using separate protectors when walking around in ski boots, the lifespan of the toe and heel pieces is very limited. I am now on my 3rd pair of replacements. They are essential to keep the boot in good condition for safe binding release. Next pair of boots I buy, I will note the thickness (or thinness!) when considering purchase.
