All-purpose camera
2 of 2 found this helpful The FZ1000 is the best travel camera I have had. It sports a high resolution Leica lens which produces superb results even with A3 prints. Controls are well placed and easy to use and the camera sits firmly in he hand. My only reservation is the short (ish) battery life so I have a fully-charged spare always handy. Otherwise, this is a high performance camera which will give excellent quality pictures every time. An all-purpose machine that won't disappoint. Highly recommended.

Easy infrared photography
1 of 1 found this helpful Having tried the filter route into infrared photography I decided that the most creative - and easiest - was to use a converted DSLR. I was not disappointed. While it still requires some experimentation with exposure compensation the entire process is significantly more straightforward than guessing with an infra red filter. I altered the white balance to custom mode using grass as my benchmark and this means that all shots are reproduced in the familiar snow white in the display. Post-production is now much easier with impressive results. The conversion was carried out professionally and quickly and I am very pleased with image quality. If you want to take exotic shots particularly of landscapes then this is an approach worth considering. With so many photographs being taken now with smartphones (everyone thinks they're a photographer) it pays to consider alternative, creative styles.

Great winter's night viewing
It's always pleasant to watch Julia Bradbury's enthusiasm for walking. Her attitude is infectious and encourages me to get my boots on and get out there. The dvds are excellent value and great viewing for long winter months to remind you of the adventures ahead when the weather improves.
