Great Vacation book!
Super conclusion to the series, although this book leaves wide open (and practically requires) the possibility of further novels. I found "Maelstrom" to be a little too full of back story, but this may be because I had so recently read the first two books in the trilogy and all the details being reviewed were still very fresh in my head. A significant percentage of the narrative was dedicated to filling out details that any reader of the first two novels would already be aware of, and were generally not required to bring a new reader up to speed. While this re-exposition might allow a reader new to the series easier engagement with the characters, I am not sure how many readers would start their reading on the third book. Once again Anderson's battle scenes are remarkably described. The simple but nicely done map with the order of battle for ground forces is a bonus, but I would also have loved a similar effort for the OOB of the naval forces. In any case, this book is the payoff of the huge confrontation that built up in the first two novels. The ebb and flow of battle, the call to duty, the rising of self doubting characters to the challenge, and the self sacrifice and internal conflicts of the warriors are wonderfully laid out. Enjoy!

Compelled me to order the next book immedately!
Fantastic continuation of the saga of "The Destroyermen". Suffers little from the common "Middle book" curse of trilogies. Anderson does a fine job of adding further texture to the growing relationship between the crews of the destroyers USS Walker and USS Mahan and their fascinating allies, the Lemurians. In this second installment, the author has given the Lemurians greater dimension, and fully introduced their capability for venality, pettiness, and treachery along with the nobility, honor, and kindness we saw in the first book. In doing so Anderson has made them a fleshed out metaphorical model for our own human traits. Even the enemies of our heroes are fleshed out to an extent greater than I expected. The internal conflict of the Japanese crew of the cruiser Amagi is palpable, and the unique sociology of the reptile-like Grik is explored tantalizingly, if a bit briefly. The battle scenes are superbly described, the minute by minute reactions and decisions of the crew are explored in such a way that the stakes of their actions are always in the back of the reader's mind. I could not help but put myself in their positions, and wonder what I might do in the same circumstance. This book is clearly not intended to be "The Odyssey", but it far surpasses the general offerings of its genre in its rich descriptions of creating a new alliance and civilization, and painting a vivid picture of warfare and its effect on us.
Solar Power Bank 300000mAh Portable Dual USB Battery Charger 20 LED for Phone

Super utility product
This is a great little charger for the price point. The LED light is fantastic, and has a very long operating time on a full charge of the battery. The capacity of the battery is more than sufficient for re-charging smart phones and other small data devices when an outlet is not available. The solar panel is really just a value adder. I would not expect to charge a fully discharged unit solely on the power of the integral solar cell, but it does work nicely to top it off if you pay attention to leaving the solar panel in direct sunlight. The only improvement I would love to see is having the charge cable storeable in the device itself, but that would make the battery pack larger, more complex and more delicate, so it's probably just a wish list thing on my part.
