Lenovo ThinkPad T60 14.1" 1.8 GHz Laptop PC
I was hunting for a 2nd hand home computer, reliable and fast just enough for home use. I was going for a thinkpad for many reasons, one is the FULL compatibility with FreeBSD, insanelyMAC OSX86, all strange Linux things, other than Windows till very last version. I like it to have opaque antiglare screen, visible also in sunlight, 1400x1050 great resolution, ATI video card. I used all kind of computers and laptops, owned basically always executive-class Toshiba ultrathin ultralight 11-12" a Thoughbook, and some mac from Prismo to G4 i still own till latest core2. IBM-Lenovo laptops, in the T series are something like the most perfect, rugged, complete windows machines you can imagine. They are black, opaque, squared and solid. They are built rationally and using a lot of expensive first quality components. As rugged as a Panasonic toughbook. With no compromise. T60-T61 may be heavy if compared to others, but the 200 grams are worth. Mine spots a double PCMCIA-Expresscard port, that means compatibility with both words, and the use of a Firewire card, since the 14"T60. Only 3 usb, standard vga, modem, 1000 ethernet, bluetooth and wifi, mic in and phones out, IRport, fingerprint reader, kensignton lock. I'd have preferred a 4th usb and a firewire400. removable dvd burner can be changed with extra HD or battery. A new main battery lasts 3.5 hours of normal use. Batteries have COUNTER, and health of the battery can be seen with thinkadvantage software Screen: Best screens are in 15" 4/3 aspect T60-T60P. Paying the premium price is worth (1400x1050 and the incredible 1600x1200) they are insane viewing angle IPS matrix displays. Something unique in the laptop market, even if those screens are renewed, in the years, to go dimmer and dimmer, and of course to drain the batteries very fast. Normal 1400x1050 screen is simply as good as the best screens other brands put on hi-level machine... maybe one year later. Keyboard: Best Keyboard I've ever seen on a laptop, period. And I worked with computers for the last 20years. I can make a confront only with my 120eur Cherry microswitch keybord that is a bit better. Thinkpads T60, and even more T60p are even better than MACS, better built, and more expensive when new. They are as good as Panasonic Toughbooks, and far cheaper (when 2nd hand!!) If you want a cheap laptop to bring everywhere and to kick here and there go for a Thinkpad T!!!! but you will end up treasuring it and loving it far more than you expect. Like me you will look for buying a brand new one, and justifying every crazy price.

Fisheye lens Zenit Zenitar 16mm. f2, 8 for Nikon SLR Cameras.
    02 Sep, 2020
Pesante, compatto e ora tutto in metallo.
