Use of iodine as an antiseptic
1 of 1 found this helpful As a professional chemist, I rate iodine as the best antiseptic available. Some years ago, when working in Nairobi on the equator, I had a dog which was badly mauled by another dog. I took it to the vet the morning after, and was told I should have taken it immediately, as the infection, because of the temperature, could now be bad enough to kill it. When the vet undid the bandaging, there were deep cuts which needed stitching, but no infection there, and he couldn't believe it. He asked me what I had done, and after I had told him, said that I had converted him to the use of iodine. Whenever I have a cut/scratch, if possible I immediately put some iodine on it, and never then get any infection.

Brilliant little printer
