Fascinating content, melding the lives of Gauss and Humboldt in a celebration of the German Enlightenment and the exploration achieved by both the mind and the body during the turn of the Eighteenth Century. The concluding chapter gives a profound philosophical perspective to human achievement and pushes Kehlmann's novel into the realm of a "must read" work.

Highly original whodunit format
1 of 1 found this helpful If you like Whodunits, this is a bit of a masterpiece. Ironically, however, Horowitz refers to the genre as innately lacking substance in the novel itself and I reached the conclusion that, personally, I need more than just a well-written puzzle. Nonetheless, if you are an Agatha Christie fan, Magpie Murders is definitely for you.
