Great if you like traditional quilts
I really rate Faffe Fassett - his colour choices are nothing less than superb, I’ve never seen anything he’s done that I didn’t like, so this book with 4 of his designs is excellent. The other designers are good too. I’m not sure whether you can still get all the Rowan fabrics that are used for the projects, but I would rarely use the exact ones given in the patterns anyway, as I have such a huge stash, so that’s not a problem for me. The ideas are the thing that attracted me to buy it, whether I eventually make anything from it or not doesn’t matter, it’s food for the quilters senses.

OK but not what you might expect
I bought one of these recently as I plan to do a huge quilt that needs endless 2.5 inch strips. I have played with it now and was surprised to find that the machine doesn’t actually cut the cloth, rather it squashes into submission in a very thin line so that when it leaves the machine you have to pull the pieces apart. Therefore you don’t get the really neat straight edges that you’re used to when using a hand rotary cutter. Also, although I’ve only tried it on scraps so far, it’s really hard to keep it level with the guide and therefore straight at the end of the strip, as you need to keep hold of the other end of the strip to keep it moving along. It’s possible I’ll get used to it I suppose, but I feel I don’t want to use it on my next project as the fabric for it was rather expensive, and I’ve only just got enough. I’m not too concerned about it though as I paid about half the retail price on eBay.
