Honeywell T4R 7-Day Wireless Programmable Thermostat - Y4H910RF4003

Technically excellent, good value.

The T4R has 6 time periods per day, each of which can be programmed by the user. The thermostat is smart, it brings the room to temperature, then uses the electronics to hold the temperature within +/- 0.1 deg. (when room thermostats were mechanical this precision was achieved with a mini heater in the thermostat which eliminated the backlash). It can also optimise the start and stop times (eg switch on even earlier on a cold morning) and there is a holiday setting. It takes time and effort to set the programs that suit you, but the override is simple (eg your partner arrives home early and wants to turn the heating up). The T4R was well worth the investment. I used it to replace a Salus programmable remote (half the price of the T4R) but the Salus program times were fixed and the thermostat kept the room temperature +/- 0.4 deg which was useless.
