The seller and I tried to solve the problem but unsuccessfully. At the end I had to post it back. The seller communication was courteous, in time. A Nice Phone & Good Value for Money
I wanted to experience Xiaomi's MIUI skin on Android and buying this 5G capable pre-owned phone was a cheaper way of achieving this goal. The phone itself is nice to hold, light and a great colour - citrus yellow. It appears to have good battery life too.
On the software front, tt comes with MIUI version 12.5.7 based on Android 11 installed. I was hoping that I could update it to MIUI 13 (based in Android 12) but so far this upgrade does not seem to be available in the UK on this model of phone (even though I have read that it should be have been available in Q1 of 2022). I think it's a known issue with Xiaomi phones that the company is not very good a rolling out new versions of the Android/MIUI or the android security patches in a timely manner. Unfortunately they are falling well behind Samsung and other OEMs in this respect. I hope they improve this going forward.
The MIUI is a pleasant flavour of Android, if a liitle too much like iOS in places.
So will I use this phone as my daily driver - no. But I will keep it in reserve and hope it gets the MIUI 13/Android 12 update before Google launches Android 13 later this year!
