A can full of flavour!

You Kept Your Picture Rails? So Did I!
Builders of the late 19th century and early to mid 20th century were no fools. Many homes built during this period incorporated picture rails, a timber moulding that was fixed approximately 16 to 20 inches (40cm to 50cm) down from the ceiling and ran the total length of the room walls.
Fashions change and the picture rail lost favour, many were removed in the great home refurbishment boom of the later part of the 20th century. However, I and many others consider themselves lucky that their place didn't lose the picture rails. In my view they add character to a room and to the choice of decoration. However, their biggest attraction to me is the use of what they were designed for, hanging pictures, prints and artwork.
The moulding picture rail hanging hook fits perfectly onto the picture rail moulding and provides a sturdy unobtrusive alternative fixture for hanging artwork etc without resorting to plaster damaging masonry nails and hooks hammered never with absolute certainty into plaster. I've even gone as far as making a bespoke bracket for a 24 inch TV and it also hangs and functions securely from the picture rail by 2 of the moulding picture hooks. A living picture, all made possible by these simple moulding picture hooks and a good old builders idea!
