Magnolia Eh? - well - - - its a Tree - not a Me Me and my Magnolia Call this a Career? At school I was a fit and active type, I cycled, rowed, played rugby and ran cross-country for the county (Northumberland). After leaving Art College I drifted into a paper Mill and got both legs crushed in a reeling machine. Recommended then to find a desk job, I ended up in the financial sector in spite of never having been any good at maths and eventually became - a Building Society Manager! Ten years later having got tired of being a round peg in a square hole I baled out and went into the Motorcycle Trade, where I travelled the UK staying in cheap boarding houses (so I could spend the surplus allowance on - er - entertainment , some of which involved dining well, playing harmonica with Blues Bands in Edinburgh, mechanicing for a classic race team in Hull and power boating in Enniskillen. All of which were sustained by copious quantities of strong coffee, cask beer and good wines. After sixteen years of this high life I suffered a sudden stroke which took out my left side co-ordination. Again recommended to take a desk job, following rehabilitation I ended up in admin with a Government QUANGO (quasi-autonomous non-government organization), transferred then to Durham County Council from where I hoped to avoid redundancy while working toward my old age pension! Then, having made it to retirement My Dentist recruited me as receptionist to cover maternity leave! Then I retired properly. Dress Sporting day at the office (everyone else wore a football shirt!) Hobbies? - I have a few - - - I used to race the bicycle - I still have and ride my old racing iron but I recently sold (on eBay of course) our tandem, which these days was used mainly to and from local barbeque parties to preserve our driving licenses.
