MTB Tools 41 Tooth Cog for Mountain Bike Cassette, 41t Sprocket

Saved my a-- on RAGBRAI hills

Well-built product that is durable and can take a lot of abuse. This huge bottom gear literally save me climbing hills on the 2016 RAGBRAI ride across Iowa that approached 11% grades on a heavier recumbent trike. It does take some fiddling with your rear derailleur to make it work. The big adjustement is getting a longer B-screw than the standard one (SRAM derailleurs tend to have longer B-screws) on your Shimano derailleur. Go down to your local hardware store and get a 20 or 25mm 4mm screw, get a nut for it and use the nut to make contact with the hanger as you crank the derailleur body out so the upper pulley on the derailleur arm clears the 41T cog by at least 6mm. That will make your shifting much easier. Also make your chain as short as you can make it and still be able to shift the chain onto this cog. Finally, I suggest simply removing the L limit screw completely. These changes enabled me to get a Shimano long arm derailleur with a 43T capacity to handle a rear cog cluster of 9-41 and a front triple crank of 44-32-22 with good shifting.
