Least expensive mic stand I could find that would handle my mic
2 of 3 found this helpful This mic stand isn't the cheapest around, to be sure. It is, however, the least expensive I could personally find in my short research (three or four days) that would hold the weight of my mic, a Blue Yeti Pro, the Blue Radius II shock mount, and the Blue The Pop pop filter, without failing due to the weight.
This mic arm suggests It can carry over four pounds of weight at its end without falling. So far, it's working as suggested, for me, which is nice.
Setting this up is easy, but it can also be easy to forget that the arm lifts straight out of the base. While I was moving it the first night after I'd received it, I completely forgot about this, and upon lifting it, the slightly weighted base slipped off and fell on my toes, resulting in some amount of cursing.
I'm also not entirely certain why the threaded end of this that is made to fasten to a microphone is so short. I mean, it's really short! I would appreciate it more if the threaded end were longer to give more of a secure hold, as I wouldn't be too happy if the heavier weight of my mic, shock mount, and pop filter were to fall off of it, and land in a thud, broken.
So far, though, it is holding itself up under the significant weight of the microphone and accessories that I'm using with it. The Velcro straps around the arm help to keep the XLR cable from going wild and creating problems. At this point in time, I can say that it has helped reduce recording clutter around my voice work area.

Oversized shock mount for an oversized microphone.
This shock mount is very big, and pretty heavy. Combined with the Yeti or Yeti Pro microphone, and The Pop pop filter, the entire unit gets to be fairly heavy, and unfortunately, incompatible with most of the easily affordable microphone boom arms on the market.
However, this does get the intended job of getting rid of vibration noise done pretty well. Previous Radius designs had a problem with the hinge at the screw in area for a mic stand. The Radius II has a lock mechanism there, so that the unit doesn't flail about due to it's own weight. Again, it's heavy, and Blue knows that. I'm glad they fixed that problem, because I was seeing about zero acceptable reviews for the Radius Shock Mount before that. The biggest issue with the thing now, is the weight. Although, the weight is possibly necessary, because it is a solid design.
