Great Pre-Code early talkie with solid performances from top-billed Billie Dove and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr although Helen Ware (as Susie) steals the show. This film pre-dated Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.'s next film - Little Caesar - by a few months and is a precursor to the Warner Bros. early 30's gangster films. This film, in a little more than its 60 minutes, has all the elements of typical Pre-Code films - melodrama, backstage romance/intrigue, murder, overt sexual references and of course, gangsters. If you're a fan of those early 1930's gangster films, than this movie is for you.
