The story of a social climber who used her sex appeal to get on and go upwards in the world.

Mandy was a very interesting character - we both worked as Birmingham shop girls for a time and came from respectable homes so to some extent I could identify with her. Mandy was brave to leave home at sixteen for London. She was very much a social climber but I don't believe that she wasn't a pr**titute. It was a guilty verdict for Stephen Ward remember and she was a "kept woman" of Rachman. I didn't know about her interesting life in Israel or her loyalty to that country - putting herself in danger even. She used sex to get on in life - and she did socially climb. It is an excellent book for anybody interested in the Profumo affair and a much better read thatn I thought it would be. She sure lived a packed life.

Who says animals go to heaven? - me of course! And no doubt millions of others.
This book gives reassurance regarding a subject that we Christians (in my case Catholic) do not discuss.
It is (in my opinion anyway, very good value as I will read and re-read it) because a lot of the analysis can read like prose that has to be thought about - some of it is very deep as a lot of the contributors are academic.
If you like a deep analysis and like to stretch your brain - this could be your book!
I have read a criticism that most of the contributors are no longer with us - but they were very prolific and important people in their time. Some still are
We have such people today, but again, we don't discuss this important topic and it's not fair.
