Destroy All Humans The B movie inspired game
2 of 2 found this helpful To understand this game properly you will have to understand the science fiction at the time the games set in the late 50s Sci Fi went massive and everyone with enough money tried to cash in on the popularity of the genre.
Destroy all humans pays homage to many of these films and also parodies them, it's main inspiration was the so bad it's good sci fi film Plan 9 from outer space.
The cutscenes are as they should be, no jokes are cut out for the benefit of overly sensitive people (I was worried they would) but there is a disclaimer, the humor is best described as animated cartoons like American dad with a dash of B movie Sci fi. The game parodies cold war paranoia brilliantly, 1950s attitudes and films.(so many references to films and TV made in the time it's set and after you won't notice them all)
The button map is redesigned, you can no longer use Psychokensis in Holobob and there is no drain of PK/focus anymore. The saucer now moves up and down and you recycle objects for ammo instead of collecting it in the maps (all welcome additions from later games)
You also have a dash move which can be upgraded so crypto can hoverboard with his own Psychokenisis and the jetpack controls are improved.
I've experienced a few bugs mainly animations getting frozen on humans but it can be easily patched. Overall I'd give this a good 8.5/10
Now all we need is it's even better sequel remade for it's great satire on 1960s culture.
