Beautiful, delicate, dextrous folk.
This album is by an artist of whom I was ignorant until recently. Jason Steel finger-picks his acoustic guitar (and occasionally his banjo)through beautiful, fluid melodies. The fact that you may not have heard of him either, should not deter you from taking a gamble.
I have a few things on the famed Takoma label and it reminds me of the guitar playing of John Fahey or Harry Tausig, or a number of artists on the Imagination Anthem releases.
If you have been lucky enough to stumble across Ben Reynolds's 2009 release or anything by the fabulous Welsh finger-picking guitarist Alun Tan Lan, this Rif Mountain Records release is one to add to your collection.
'Fire Begot Ash' differs from many of the above in that it contains vocals - softly-intoned tender vocals that give the album a campfire appeal and allow the listener to feel that he or she is being treated to something special, ethereal, heart-warming.
Beautiful, delicate, dextrous folk.

Timeless Folk Meanderings
This is an album of quiet, finger-picked guitar. The all-Welsh lyrics make the voice a instrument in itself and in no way detract from the effectiveness of the songs.
"Y Distawrwydd" is beautiful, peaceful folk in an early, acoustic Donovan vein and very reminiscent of Euros Childs and Richard James at their most pastoral.
This disc has a timeless quality and could have been written any time in the last 40-odd years. It is set to receive many plays and when I return to England I'll certainly be buying a copy on vinyl; as well as taking a close look to see if he'll be attending the Green Man Festival.

Quality splitter
Bought this three way aerial splitter last week and it's now fixed to my wall. It has already withstood winter wind and heavy rain. This is a good sturdy box that can be fixed directly to the wall of around a pole using the plastic tie supplied. Closes securely to keep wires safe. Highly recommended.
