DigiTech Bad Monkey Tube Overdrive pedal

Great affordable alternative to the Ibanez Tubescreamer
It's a shame that Digitech have stopped making these pedals as they are a great low cost alternative to the Classic TS9 and 808 variations of the Tubescreamer. Fortunately, These are still relatively cheap and easy to get hold of 2nd hand, so if you are looking for a good overdrive pedal that works well as a booster or stand-alone overdrive with that mid eq hump, then this is a great pedal. The main difference between this pedal and the Tube Screamer is that it has 2 tone controls for low and high frequencies as opposed to a simple tone knob. The other contender in this price range would be the Boss SD1 super overdrive, which is also similar in its build and sound to the Tube Screamer. Both pedals can do the SRV style Texas blues tones convincingly, even if they are not the exact pedal that the late great SRV used himself. This is also great for boosting high gain amps for a tightly focused singing lead tone. Build quality is pretty good, however, the knobs look like they may not be quite as bombproof as the knobs on Boss pedals. If you can find one of these 2nd hand it is worth checking out.
