Well recommended
I had enjoyed the TV Series starring Derek Jacobi and decided to revisit the character of Cadfael via Ellis Peters books.Peters writing is a joy to read and the stories, only one of which was serialised for tv, in this omnibus are excellent .The civil war between Maud and Stephen is the backdrop and gives an extra dimension ,explaining the actions of the characters and provides a great deal of realism.The stories cover the year 1142 from spring to winter.An excellent read and recommended.

2 of 2 found this helpful Brilliant atmospheric film ,black and white movies have a class of their own which is not by any means inferior to colour movies.If any thing black and white movies add to the drama and subtlety of the actors performance ie the actor is central to the performance and sets the tone,The background is secondary.What actors and actresess today can produce that.?Only the finest I Think
