Lightweight compact high-performance lens for general street photography
1 of 1 found this helpful This is an excellent lens for contrast and definition, it's weaknesses are a little barrel distortion if you are too close to subjects with linear features; and of course it isn't fast. But with decent sensors of Fuji compacts, increasing the ISO value one step compensates for one lens stop in speed, so the f2.8 maximum aperture becomes irrelevant. The real reason for buying this lens is its physical size. It is so small it's almost a pancake. For carrying around in a pocket and for street photography it's the perfect compact lens and, I think, the best compromise in focal length. So if you're into street photography or for general work in a city it's a brilliant all-round lens to fit and forget - an excellent performer and fantastic value for money.

A valuable addition to his Martens book - an important source for Murano collectors.
This is an excellent addition to Heiremans's book on Dino Martens. It has a number of pieces illustrated which I have never seen before, despite dealing in Murano glass for many years, and having n extensive library already. As well as having many fine colour phots of rare and unusual pieces, there is a very comprehensive section of archival design drawings of models and their reference numbers which does complete the Martens book in allowing one to see quite a number of Toso model numbers attached to their factory drawings. This, for me is an exciting book, and a valuable source for any collector of Murano art glass.

An interesting guide with poor illustrations, outmoded and mostly monochrome photos.
The narrative is rather outdated, although quite interesting. Most purchasers will want to know far more about the great rebirth of Murano design and art glass of the 20th century, there is not enough of that in this book, 70 of its 93 pages are devoted to very early and pre-20th.century glass.
The illustrations are very poor, most of the photography is monochrome, which is unforgivable in a field which mostly relies on colour, and the quality of photgraphy is abysmal by today's standards. The reproduction quality is inferior as well.
I bought the book to complete my collection for research purposes, but I wouldn't recommend it as value for money, there are many better books on Murano glass and its history, better written and far better illustrated.
