WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!
I'd heard many talk about Artemis Fowl, almost in the same amazed tones as those who enjoy Harry Potter. I read the first in the series but was a little disappointed with it. It was much later that I read the sequel (Arctic Incident) and I really enjoyed it. All I can say is that the series gets better and better. I've read the one after this, The Opal Deception, and it was another masterpiece.

Fairies with Attitude
An original story with a hero who is a criminal mastermind, highly intelligent, immensely wealthy and 12! His bold and daring plan is to hold a leprechaun to ransom. But he's taking on more than he bargained for when he kidnaps Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance Unit). For a start, leprechaun technology is more advanced than our own. Add to that the fact that Holly is a true heroine and that her senior officer Commander Root will stop at nothing to get her back and you've got the mother of all sieges brewing!

ORIGINAL!
The series of books which begins with Mortal Engines is like nothing I have ever read before. I was hooked from the first few pages and, although not everything (or everyone) is as it seems, you are always left wanting more. Currently, I have read three books of the quartet - I am in two minds whether to read the final installment; not because I don't want to but because I don't want the adventure to end.
