Problem solved.
A new gear linkage cable lasted 12 months before it began to separate at the most awkward moments.
This small clamp works and keeps everything where it should be. A bit awkward to fit because of all the hoses in the engine compartment that make things difficult to see. Now I don't need to worry about having no gears after pulling out of a junction.

For Renault trafic.
Very quick job to change the old ones out and replace with these. Fitted perfectly. Back to feeling like new.

Renault Trafic 2.0DCI 115 2006-2010 Mass Airflow Sensor
Probably the easiest job to do on the Trafic is change the Mass Airflow Sensor. From my local part supplier I was quoted £140 or £200 for 2 different manufacturers parts, so checked ebay and found this for £43.
It looks exactly the same as the old part, 2 minutes to swap out old, sorted out my problem.
I am extremely pleased with result and at this price is a bargain.
Only time will tell how long it will last , but that's the same as everything else these days.
