Perfect Replacement amp for my Vintage Subwoofer
The amp in my vintage KLH 10" subwoofer was making scary hissing & popping noises- probably a sign of aging capacitors. Replacing the entire subwoofer when just the amp was bad seemed environmentally unsound and expensive ($200+ CAD). Found the BA amp's specs were in the right range to be a good replacement. This was a VERY economical way to resolve the problem.
The mounting plate was nearly identical to the original- just some new screw holes, and bit of a shim with sealant were required. Created a custom internal bridge cable with speaker wire and some Home Depot spade connectors. I put on one of my favorite "blow up" movies and it worked perfectly! Recommended without reservation.

Perfect Upgrade for my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1)
Amazing upgrade for my 2008 Quad Core Mac Pro series 3,1 running OS 10.11. Benchmarks 3-5 times faster across the board compared to the original stock Radeon 2600 XT. Be sure to get a real Mac ROM card like I did so that you can still do option boot and emergency recovery.
No extra software to install - it simply works. Physical install was a bit of a challenge. The card takes up every millimeter of the space allotted to it. My card did not come with the mandatory power cable. Couldn’t find this rare 6 pin to mini 6 pin PCIe power cable anywhere locally. Multiple sources on eBay and elsewhere though. Snagged one for about $9 CAD shipped. Cable photo below.

A Slow, Obsolete Media Streamer with No Further Roku Support
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this to add Netflix access to my non-HDMI Sony big screen TV. What a disappointment!
This is the only Roku model in recent years to have component (1080i RGB) video output in addition to HDMI. A $15-25 aftermarket cable (not available from Roku Canada) is required, but it does correctly output the proper 1080i signal to legacy TVs.
Roku stopped XD/S 2100X manufacture in 2011. This model and several others lost Roku support in 2015. That means that its OS CANNOT be updated beyond 3.1 build 1198. After spending several hours with Roku Tech Support I learned you cannot download a new, working version of their Netflix app either - a problem because the original app no longer works. Word to the wise: DON'T RESET THE BOX OR DELETE ANY APPS ALREADY ON IT. They CANNOT BE RESTORED. To be fair, some of the other legacy apps still work - though slowly.
The ultimate solution for me was to buy a currently supported $50CAD Roku Express+. I used an HDMI adapter to send video to my TV's DVI port and used composite (red & white) stereo for my TV's sound input. Works fine.
