What am I missing in the install. I received the switch with harness.

Not sure if it just doesnt work. I installed like I was suppose to but to no effect. It is inoperative. I plugged in the harness. ???Im not saying there is anything wrong with what I purchased. Im just in a quandry trying to figure what to do. I need to return. What do I need for return??
