Sealey Reverse Action Damaged Spark Plug Thread Tap Chaser Restorer 14mm MS003
12 Dec, 2019
Good tool, but very delicate
I’m a mechanic by trade and had a few Rover V8 engines that have alloy heads, two of which had some stripped threads for the spark plugs. I saw these on EBay and thought I would give it a go, what I did notice is how the price varies for the tool, you can find them between £14 to £40!! All Sealey branded. The first one I brought did the job ok, but remember it is a cheap tool, halfway on recutting the thread it started to struggle and upon removing it I saw that one of the threaded legs had slightly twisted which meant the remaining threaded legs would not align with the other threads, there seems to be quite a bit of flex in the tool, probably poor quality steel? Despite this, the spark plug went in and all was well, but the tool was now useless. A few months ago I had to do another V8, I looked at the tool, and decided to get another as I didn’t trust the first one, as in an alloy head, you really only get one chance to get it right, or then you have to go down the insert/Helicoil route. To my astonishment the same thing happened again! I had coated the tool in grease this time, And was very careful in going half a turn at a time, then backing off before cutting more. The tool isn’t what I would call “garage quality”and not sure how it would stand up to cast iron heads? But it does do the job, but don’t expect it to last years.

Hydrogarden 2KW Electric Greenhouse Fan Heater Built In Thermostat Hydroponics

Good for the price
Good little greenhouse heater, it’s managing to heat my 8X12 satisfactorily. Biggest downside As others have said, it doesn’t have a thermostaticly controlled fan. Only the heater element is controlled so the fan will run all the time, I ended up buying a plug in thermostat to control it which does the job perfectly.
