Room for improvement but seems to be the best available
There is no doubt that this product could be a little bit better but because it seems to be the only camera on the market that is front facing, night vision and that gives a decent picture it is getting five stars.
I have it installed on the front number plate looking right so I can egress from my garage onto a busy road with parked cars obscuring my view - the camera allows me to see what is coming, although cars are a problem it is the cyclists that are bombing up on the inside that has been my main concern.
I am not sure how weather proof the camera is as mine is located fully exposed on the front number plate and subject to rain at high speed.
This is my third camera, the first one worked for about a year and a half, the second just a few months, I am hoping that this latest one will last at least as long as the first one.
I have tried other, smaller cameras, but either they are lacking any night vision, or the picture is not clear enough to make out cyclists from distance.
I could do without the 28mm Hole Saw Drill that is included, also the metal bracket it comes with is not really fit for purpose as it is so thin it only takes a few weeks before it is rusted and broken.
However, I have used some pollymorphic plastic to mould a more substantial bracket round the flimsy metal bracket that is supplied and that has provided the camera with a very solid mount.
I have pared the camera with the DC Video Wifi Transmitter 903W Wireless P2P 30fps, its not a perfect setup as it takes about a minute to connect to the 903W wireless and display the picture, and once connected the picture can sometimes freeze. I have ordered a bigger aerial in the hope that a stronger signal might get over that problem.
I did enquire in a local car auto electronics shop if they could fit me a side camera, they said they could and have it displayed on the in car monitor although it wasn't going to have night vision, they quoted £4,000, so whereas the current setup may not be perfect, it has cost me less than £100.
Until side cameras with radar detection are an available option that comes with the car, this setup works most of the time and I am convinced has already saved lives.

Got there in the end
I ordered this item, but the forward facing version.
When it arrived it worked with an iPhone but not my Android phone. Although the receiver I received was supposedly the right model, it didn't work, so I sent it back and received a replacement, and that did work, (the receiver has to be configured for Android but that was just a case of using the reset button).
I had ordered the front facing camera, but the first and second time I got the reversing model, which not only has guidelines but also flips the image.
The correct camera model was however sent to me and after a number of months I then had everything I needed and a working camera.
I wanted it as when I am exiting my garage I am blind to pedestrians and once I get on the road I am often having to exit into traffic and I can't see anything due to parked cars or vans, and I am especially vulnerable to cyclist, there is no place to fit a mirror so instead I have fitted the camera so that it is pointing right and it has already been a life saver for a number of cyclists.
Initially I had it wired to the ignition but I then had it wired it to a separate button as I found when the Android is connected to the WiFi some of the other phone applications then try to use the WiFi instead of mobile data and hang because there is no Internet access.
It works really well for my purpose which is just to safely pull out of my garage onto the road, at which point I then turn the camera off, although I have found that once the Android apps are up and running using the mobile data (SatNav for example) I can turn the WiFi back on without any problem.
The camera gives a good picture, day and night.
It does sometimes suffer from picture freeze, but this is generally only momentary. Considering the potential for interference with the WiFiAV receiver being in the engine bay it works very well.
It takes about twenty seconds for the phone to connect to the WiFi and display a picture, that may be too long for some people but for me this is a small price to pay for the benefit of being able to see what is coming.
Ideally I would have got a working model of what I ordered on the first attempt and it was frustrating when it didn't initially work and was also the wrong camera; but a mark of a good supplier is dealing with problems and my queries were answered and replacements sent, the time back and forth between the UK and Hong Kong didn't help, but I am a happy customer in the end.
If there is a manufacturer that is looking for a new product idea it would be a purpose built system that fits on the front of a vehicle that looks left and right, maybe with some radar alert as well.
Cyclists are a serious problem when pulling out blind, between parked cars, into traffic as even when the traffic stops to let you out, cyclists are bombing down the inside and the car is well into the road before you can possibly see them - motorcyclists on the outside overtaking stopped traffic are another problem, but not as much as the cyclist on the inside.
I can testify that this product works, and the supplier is very helpful.

They look good, and not just cosmetic
Delivery was very prompt.
The Audi originals are a much more solid construction than the cheaper alternative, although that doesn't always seem to count for much for the as it seems that there are two part numbers both 4G0052133, those suffix with an H (as is this one) is a redesign, as those without the H are known according to Forum feedback to often become defective after a few months use (Audi apparently will replace them free of charge).
The Audi originals display a brighter, sharper but considerably smaller compact "quattro" logo than the non-Audi variety, but still not bright enough to show up during the majority of the day if that is what was expected.
Two minute job to fit, they are marked left and right, although I had to insert them a different way round on each side for the logos to be displayed the same way up.
The standard puddle lights are not really noticeable, the logo variety draw the eye and therefore actually have a useful as well as a cosmetic purpose.
I have marked them as good value as it was a yes or a no question, I will qualify that, they are good value considering the recommended list price, and they are because they look good, but it is a lot for what are just a couple of LEDs.
Considering the old Audi originals do not last long, the cheaper non-Audi ones probably don't either, but you could get six of the non-Audio ones for the same price as these. There is no guarantee that these modified ones last any longer but I would hope that they do.
