Thoroughly apt. Remarkable on many levels

It's the story that's amazing, and the product is the story. It is ageless. For so much to have come together with such outstanding results is a testament to all those who played a role, including the broadcasters who saw fit to record the events which turned publicly obscure academics into publicly recognisable heroes. They may have seen themselves as 'only doing their jobs', but the consummate professionalism of all concerned is something to which others should aspire. The team's discovery and verification of Richard III's remains is one of the greatest archaeological achievements of this or any century and their inclusion in the Queen's birthday honours list is long overdue.

An easy read that conforms to the dictum, 'the looker on sees most of the game'. When Lincoln's administration is viewed from a fiscal perspective by a professional economist rather than a hero-worshipping historian, we see the man 'warts and all'. Whatever the current 'White House spokesperson' may say, wars are fought over money and economic control. The American Civil War was no exception, as this book makes abundantly clear.
