Childhood innocence and wonder revived!
Alex Ross is, to say the least, the most talented comic artist of all time. With a feel of nostalgia in his use of colors and unmistakable style, his work is refreshingly different from anything we've experienced in comic art thus far. Distinct. Once you've seen a Ross piece, you can pick one out of a pile of various artists instantly. I fell in love with his art long before I knew it was his, or who he was. Now I know, and now I've begun an adventure of my own, collecting whatever Ross Art I can get my hands on...despite the small budget - it's worth every hard earned penny to own a piece of such remarkable work. Besides all that, his favorite superhero to paint - my all-time favorite and the All-American Superhero, Superman. This book covers through written word and illustration a rough chronology of Ross' beginning as an artistic prodigy, showing drawings from age 3 that would put most of us adults to shame, focusing on his DC Art through the 90's and early 2000's. Stunning images, and even more, a warm sense of childhood innocence and wonder revived. If I had to sum up this book in one word... S-U-P-E-R Thanks for reminding me what my childhood felt like, Alex.
