Neural Net Book With Software
This book gives a good understanding of neural net principles. The author is one of the leading authorities on neural nets. The book isn't the easiest book to understand if you've never had exposure to neural nets before.
I bought the book mainly for the the software, which I've had amazing results with. But its been a few years since I've used the software and the commands I saved from my functioning command file is no longer working. Unfortunately, the book is grossly inadequate to understanding how to use the software NPredict.

Installing Linux Mint by someone new to Linux
Installation was very straight forward and easy. The only problem I experienced was the order required to install and update different apps. The update option for the Linux kernel should not be loaded as it caused my laptop to freeze, but all other updates were no problem, I just had to use trial and error on which updates to load. Common sense dictated that I finally ran the Kernel very last, which locked up my laptop, so I don't load it anymore.
The biggest problem came with getting Linux Mint to recognize wifi. Driver Manager only allows one option if you don't have internet connection, but I had to go online with another computer already established on the internet, to search for a possible reason for my problem. It was then that I ran Driver Manager only to find the one option available.
Now I have years of experience, but never with Linux, so this step should be ran as default with the allowance for upgrading later on. Also, I had to reload the operating system several times, due to not knowing how to resolve problems. The online advice about users new to Linux should run the 32 bit version, as it is easier to install, I found to be completely not the case. It is a joy to run a real users operating system, and Linux Mint is stable and a pleasure to install and operate. I'm pleased with my decision to go with Linux Mint!
