Favorite Pieces for Classical Guitar TAB Music Book Solo Acoustic
24 May, 2016
good value sheet music
This compilation includes some of the best known classical pieces, transcribed for guitar. I have reservations about the inclusion of 'Fur Elise', and 'Greensleeves' is a bit of a prosaic choice, but having 'Moonlight Sonata' and Pachelbel's 'Canon in D' as well as 'Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring' and 'Clair de Lune' in one book makes this collection much better value than having to buy each piece of sheet music separately. There are also 2 rags (including 'The Entertainer') to widen the repertoire beyond purely classical.
There are quite a few different versions of Pachelbel's Canon, but this is one of the better ones. The Moonlight Sonata is more challenging and the main reason I bought this publication.
Overall, if you are looking for a collection of guitar music which includes both notation and tabulature transcriptions of some great classical pieces, this is a good place to start.
3 Cd's worth, has to be a bargain. Could always quibble about some of the song choices and they're not all really 'acoustic' but there' something for everyone in this collection.

Sia - Colour The Small One
This CD features a woman with emotion oozing out of every breath. And you know she's lived it too. Her second album, first released in 2004, was re-released in America in 2006. The single 'Breathe Me'featured in several soundtracks, notably at the end of 'Cold Feet' and also in Holby City. It gives us a glimpse into a deeply personal world, and the tracks as a whole combine to play out the full range of her sharpest emotions, from pain and hurt to easeful joy.
Although the overall tempo is restrained, this is an album that bears repeated listening, to witness a voice of rare authenticity.
