You can’t beat new old stock for parts that have been discontinued.

Well, the original one lasted 35+ years. If this new old stock replacement gets anywhere close to that I’ll be pretty happy. There were some recommended replacements for this discontinued part, but they were at exorbitant prices, came from dealers with questionable reputations, and/or didn’t fit in the fixture.

Zovirax beats Abreva

Zovirax (acyclovir/aciclovir) works for me. Abreva (Docosanol) just doesn't work at all. Tell the US FDA to "Cease and Desist" in its unjustified protection of Avanir Pharmaceuticals' Abreva as "the only nonprescription cold sore medicine approved by the FDA to shorten healing time". I can get this in the UK or Mexico at any drugstore, gift shop, even in the airport. It should be available over the counter in the US too. I'm not a fan of the pump bottle. I can't tell how much is left in the tube, so I don't know if I need to carry a backup tube or place an order for more. Also, the cap doesn't stay on very well, so if you carry it in your pocket, you risk having the cap come off and having it squirt in your pants.
