Well Worth the Price Paid for It
1 of 1 found this helpful Overall, this Ubox in this 8th generation (gen) version, along with this authorized retailer Hope Overseas’ tech support, is worth the price we pay for it. The support reply I received about updating the system’s latest firmware was prompt and helpful. Compared to the box in its 3rd gen that I got a few years back, this 8th gen that I purchased just 2 weeks ago appears to run faster (but seemingly only after all the apps have come on to the screen); it also has a few extra features, and is pre-installed with a few updated/upgraded apps.
Nonetheless, as with most electronic products, this box in its latest gen has a few minor inefficiencies that can be improved on. For instance, when turning the box on each time, the user is required to re-select his/her preferred breathing light color (other than the default blue) that flashes around the box. Another tech issue is with the bluetooth voice-capable AI remote control that comes with the purchase. Users should be forewarned that there would likely be WiFi interference if this bluetooth-based remote were to be operated in an environment (e.g., family room) in which many WiFi-capable devices (iPhones, iPads, printers) have their bluetooth turned on at the same time.
