TRP HY/RD Road Hydraulic Disc Brake Set 160mm w/ Rotor (Front+Rear)
19 Sep, 2018
Incredible system! Make sure they are the right brakes for you!!
This is a beautiful braking system! Here are my thoughts: •First and foremost, braking power is quite strong. Just note that, for better or worse, it's a bit easier to lock up the wheel than other mechanical disc brakes. •A plus for being a mechanical system. Easy maintenance if you're a bikepacker like me (I have these on my touring bike). As for the hydraulic reservoir, just keep some mineral oil with you. It's a small price to pay for reliable braking. •Self-adjusting. No need to worry about heavy descents wondering if you'll have enough cable pull. •Brakes stop well in the rain, mud, s**t, and grit. •They are mostly pretty quiet. I've only gotten some squeal in the harsh wet during a steep descent. No need to squeeze the brakes hard in those instances anyway. •The installation was incredibly easy (almost TOO easy). As far as that tension screw on the cable-pull arm that some folks can't seem to wrap their heads around, the directions explain it very well. •Bleeding the hydraulic reservoir is incredibly easy, in fact much easier than bleeding regular hydraulic brakes. •Again, there is no need to squeeze the brakes too hard. In fact I'd highly recommend feathering/ pumping them only. I think this has to do with the slotted rotors. The slots might be a bit too harsh on the brake pads if they're squeezed too tightly. Thankfully, feathering is really all you need on the road. Just keep an eye out for this, it's not as bad as you think it might sound, and in my opinion does not affect it's 5-star rating. •They don't quite have that ridiculous initial bite that many hydraulic resin systems do. I ride in the city a lot, and that instant bite is crucial. However, the bite is definitely enough to get the job done. Just something to get used to, again it does not affect my rating of them. •I've seen folks complain about the amount of cable pull these brakes use. There are modified parts available third-party to help with this. I have not had any issues with this yet. •They're a bit "heavy", but really only a few grams more than my old Avid BB7's, which downright failed me. I'll take 10 grams along with superb stopping. •They're pretty. They're bada**. Makes your bike look a bit more serious. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend these brakes. Make sure they are the right brakes for you!

Pretty good system!! Not THE ABSOLUTE BEST, but certainly worth your time.
I enjoy the upgrade from the original Nintendo DS: For example, the integration of apps, better online capabilities, camera/video, the circle pad, and the overall refinement from the original DS. It is truly a great evolution in Nintendo's handheld genre. The AR games in particular are very intriguing and fun to play. Watching my house in the background, my table, etc. is crazy cool!! The selection of games are pretty good. There are the standard flagship Nintendo games like Pokemon and Mario, all solid games. As far as it being the best handheld console?..... Eh, not quite there. The game library could be better and bigger (compared to that of the PSP/PS Vita). The camera is of a very low quality, however it is still impressive for this console. Also, I personally have not been a fan of the graphics for most Nintendo games (also preferring the PSP/PS Vita here). The biggest thing is, of course, the 3D capabilities. It is initially quite impressive that a handheld device can produce 3D video images without the need of glasses. There are some flaws here, though. It uses the biparallax technology, meaning it takes advantage of the fact that your eyes are far apart, and produces images selective to each eye. This means that you can only hold it a certain way to get the 3D effect. And let's be honest here, 3D technology just looks weird anyway; 3D movies, etc. all look weird. The battery life is the next biggest issue. It's something like up to 8 hours maximum, with all extraneous capabilities turned off (wireless, 3D, brightness, etc.). It's around 3 hours with all that stuff on. It's not the end of the world. We oftentimes have to keep our wireless technology plugged in anyway. So it's not THAT big of a deal. Overall, it's a solid upgrade in Nintendo's handheld line. It's built like a beast, and it's pretty cool. 4/5.

Shimano FC-M552-L MTB Crankset 42-32-24t 170mm
22 Nov, 2016
Standard and Affordable.
This is an easy crankset to work with and pretty standard on modern MTBs and commuters. For most bikes of that style, the 24t-42t range is perfect. I will say that you need to take special care in installing this crankset, specifically the end cap on the non-drive side. Those caps are tough to tighten and can easily break; they are plastic, and the outside can also strip easily. One time, I had a cap loosen and it temporarily disabled my ride. Hence the loss of one star. So take care in the installation and keep an eye on it. Otherwise, it's a solid purchase.
