atmospheric
I remember watching this TV programme years ago when I was a child, I loved the characters and the setting - the land of the midnight sun. It intrigued me so much that I wanted very much to travel to Norway, and I've now been there three times once I was old enough and could afford to travel. This is a story for small children, though, so I intend to give it to a friend's grandson at Christmas. Obviously the technology is very outdated - most of the episodes are in black and white, but somehow that adds to the charm.

Tense and dark
This is one of my favourite films EVER. The tension builds up gradually until about the middle of the film when a shocking event really ups the ante, from then on the principal characters are pulled into a web of corruption and blackmail which ultimately results in their enforced separation. Very gripping but sad.
