OLYMPUS DM-450HANDHELD DIGITAL 2GB VOICE RECORDER 6 MONTHS WARRANTY

Tough little digital recorder.

I'm a big fan of Olympus's DM-450 and 550 digital voice recorders, and of Olympus's excellent "Sonority" software The recorders are very robust - unlike some competitors they have an alloy chassis which provides significant protection to the electronics. I've had a DM-450 from new about 8 years ago, and it's been around Europe in my pocket, been dropped, thrown (by a police officer) and generally benignly abused, and still works perfectly. I bought a "spare" (the above purchase) on the basis of redundancy - I always carry two cameras, for example, in case one malfunctions - and both recorders are serving their purpose - recording interviews, general conversation and "wild" ambient sound - admirably.

Does what it says on the tin.

This is a good well-rounded look at the US side of the "Punk Rock" coin. The track listing is, in my opinion, missing a couple of tracks ("Sister Ray" by the Velvets, for instance) that could be argued to have been more of a direct influence on the sound of Punk. On the whole, though, it's bang on the money, especially if you're looking at the CD from (like me) a British perspective, where so many of the tracks on this compilation turned up on the Old Grey Whistle Test or on the John Peel show on Radio One during the 1970s.
