The Sound of Music (Blu-ray/DVD, 2010, 3-Disc Set, 45th Anniversary Edition)

Great Version of a Great Classic

The 45th Anniversary issue of The Sound of Music on Blu-ray looks great and I highly recommend it. We all know it's a great film, but if anyone's guessing how good this version looks, I can tell you it's excellent. The film was shot on 70mm film (most film movies are shot on less costly 35mm) and with a good mastering job (which this edition is) 70mm will usually look extra special on Blu-ray and this does. Great sound too. A must have for your Blu-ray collection. As I said, highly recommended.

The Beach Boys Smiley Smile Hybrid Stereo SACD Analogue Productions

Great version of Smiley Smile

The mastering quality of this disc is so good (Analogue Productions is a very high quality label), even on the standard red book cd layer, it sounds like you are listening to the studio master tape. This isn't the best Beach Boys album, true, but represented a step in a different musical direction, so is essential to any true Beach Boys fan and/or collector. I don't pretend to have heard every cd mastered version of it, but his version of it I think would be very hard to beat.
