For Universal Completists Only
1 of 1 found this helpful The prints for these programmers are in surprisingly good shape. Although these are B pictures, they have good production values and good supporting actors. The screenplays are at best serviceable, with the direction of the stories variable; Reginald le Borg (who directed three of the six movies in the series) uses some imaginative camera work in Calling Dr. Death, the first in the series. The screenplay for Weird Woman, adapted from Fritz Lieber's terrific novel Conjure Wife that was originally serialized in Unknown and not published as a stand alone book until 1953, doesn't really do justice to the source material but enough of Lieber's ideas survive to make it interesting.
