Close to perfect.
Provides a very steady and sturdy platform for the camera. It excels at fast repositioning for framing the photograph. The only thing that a ball head, with or without a pistol grip, fails at is moving the platform in only one axis.

Good Value
Very good value for the money. Sturdy and easy to use. I appreciate the 1/4" to 3/8" adaptor allowing use on all tripod legs. I would have preferred having a separate lock for the "pan" function. This would make taking several photos to be stitched together easier.

Earned a spot in my camera bag.
This lens fills the need.
It is not:
The fastest (f-stop)
or longest (mm)
and maybe not even the sharpest.
But it is:
Lightweight
durable
Inexpensive.
