A man made an Image of Mercury, and put it for sale in the market. As no one tried to buy it, he thought he would try to sell it by proclaiming the power of the Image. He cried at the market, "A god for sale! God for sale! It brings you luck & fortune!" Presently one of the buyers stopped him and said, "If your god is all you make him out to be, how is it you don't keep him?" "I'll tell you why," replied he; "he brings gain, it is true, but he takes his time about it; whereas I want my money now"
