Lightweight but fulfills the purpose
I have not had enough time to test the endurance of this piece of equipment in long term usage (and I am an amateur so a single bottle of gas is going to last me a long time!). The build of this torch is lightweight but it seems sturdy enough for me; the body is plastic but the important controls are in metal. The heat variable control knob turns smoothly and is gradual in operation. Some cheaper examples of this type of torch are not adjustable in this respect, something I find amazing. Everything on this torch functions as it should and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Not exactly what I ordered
This is a great piece of literature in the detective fiction genre and I would strongly recommend it to any devotee of Philip Marlowe character who has not already read it. Perhaps one reading of it is not enough ?
But the edition that I was sent was an older paperback, in average condition, and did not contain a foreword by Jeffery Deaver. Therefore I cannot comment on that content/edition.

The origin of the Adamsberg adventures
This novel is the first in the series of detective stories featuring J-B Adamsberg so it is essential reading for anyone
who has got hooked on this fictional character.
Whether you like him or his method of detection drives you to distraction you will find in this novel all the fascinating psychologically challenging characters typical of Vargas's subsequent works.
The plot involves a slow build up of tension culminating in a series of grisly murders, the motives for which turn out to be
all too familiar to those who have already met Vargas's hero in other scenarios.
Those readers who have already encountered Camille will be enabled to fill in a few more details of this shadowy figure during the course of the narrative.
