1 of 1 found this helpful This beast is not for the "non-technically" oriented individual, but is definitely a top of the line 11.2 channel receiver. I use it mainly for the decoding capability, as I have separate power amps for all channels. If you haven't experienced Dolby Atmos with two front height speakers and two rear height speakers (combined with the standard 7.1 channels), you don't know what you are missing ! Once you've experienced IMMERSIVE sound, you will never go back to a standard 5.1/7.1 setup. Hint: You will need 2 channels of external amplification as this amp only provides 9 amplified channels. I just used an old Sony receiver that was laying around that had pre-amp inputs to amplify the last two channels and presto....11.2 channels of glorious audio!!!
