Works well and withstands a fair bit of abuse
I've had the LF1700 for a few years. I do use it for electronics but also for assembling etched brass and etched nickel silver model railway kits. This assembly can involve some rather large metal pieces. I prefer a small bit, say 2mm chisel, run hot so the heat can be applied just where it is wanted. Only very rarely does need a bigger (5mm) bit or turning up over 400c.
One thing it doesn't like is using the bit to push something, especially sideways. The heater element is ceramic so it doesn't bend but you can break it. Keeping the handle tight and the nut tight so the shroud/bit holder cannot flex helps.
If it has an Achilles heel it is that if you do break an element you need another soldering iron to fit a replacement.

Old one better made.
My old one is now that rough it is difficult to keep clean. It is Addis but probably twenty years old. The new one is shiny so I can keep it clean but much more flimsily made. When you lift it by one handle to empty it the rim quite distinctly bends. I doubt it will do twenty years

Does what it supposed to do
It works, what else is there to say about something as basic as a 13 pin to 7 pin towing adapter?
It would be useful to have it in white or bright yellow for using at night but that's too simple for manufacturers to think about.
